3 Affordable Ways to Treat Thinning Hair

by Anjelina Tongco

Is your hair starting to thin out? Hair thinning is a common issue for both men and women. However, it’s usually the women that are more affected by it. Every year, people spend thousands of dollars on all sorts of hair and scalp treatment to make sure their hair looks thick, shiny, and smooth.

One of the most common reasons why hair gets thinner over the years is hair fall. If you’ve ever woken up to a pillow full of hair, you know just how annoying this problem can be. You walk around and leave a trail of hair wherever you go. A simple pass of a comb or hairbrush often leads to clumps of hair being taken off of your head.

Thankfully, there are many ways to treat thinning hair, whether caused by hair fall or other things. Here are three solutions that are sure to fit within any budget.

  1. At-home keratin treatment - if your hair loss is mainly caused by hair fall, you might want to try a keratin hair treatment. Keratin treatments help strengthen hair so they don’t break as easily, thus reducing the amount of hair fall. If you’re not sure where or how to begin, you can try using a keratin treatment bundle like this one. Or you could simply switch to keratin-infused hair products as well.
  2. Essential oils - a few drops of the right essential oils added to your shampoo and/or conditioner and other hair care products can help with thinning hair. So, what are the essentials oils that you can use to address hair thinning, you ask? Well, you can start with something that’s really easy to find: lavender essential oil. Other than this, you can also try rosemary, peppermint, cedarwood, thyme, and peppermint essential oils.
  3. Hair building fibers - this one is an instant solution to thinning hair. It could even be a great solution to balding. However, it’s important to note that it’s only temporary -- a “band-aid fix,” if you will. Hair-building fibers are often made of natural keratin. These are the same ones you find in your natural hair, so you don’t have to worry about the fibers standing out and looking fake.

Once you have the budget for it, it would be a worthwhile investment to get the right kind of hair treatment or scalp treatment done. While you save up for it, though, these three solutions should be able to help you deal with the issue at hand.
