5 Signs Your Curling Iron Needs To Be Changed

No matter how well you take care of your things, they’re still going to wear and tear or simply need replacing. Think back to the last time you bought a curling iron. How long has it been? 1. It’s been three years - most hair tools like your curling iron, straightening iron, hair wavers, and heated rollers have a shelf life of around 2 to 3 years. Depending on how much you use your hair styling tool, it may start working less efficiently after this period. If it’s been a while since you got your hair wand and you notice it’s starting to take longer to do your hair in the morning, it might be a sign that it’s time to get a new one. 4. The barrel has faded/discolored spots - most curling irons these days will have the barrel coated with a material to help protect hair and distribute heat evenly. If your curling iron has a certain type of coating when you bought it and you’re now seeing spots where the coating has faded or disappeared altogether, stop using it and buy a new one instead. Without the coating, the heat could damage your hair or, worse, burn it off. 
5. It’s taking longer (or faster) to do your hair on the same setting - noticing a difference in the amount of time it takes for you to do your hair despite the fact that your curling iron is on the same heat setting it’s always been in the past few years? Give it up and treat yourself to a new one. A change in performance means your hair curling iron is no longer working as efficiently which is why you need to change it ASAP.
