How To Curl Your Hair Without A Curling Iron

by Anjelina Tongco

Sometimes, you get tired of sporting the same look so you start experimenting with different hairstyles to spice up your everyday look. Unfortunately, not everyone has all the hairstyling tools needed to come up with something that’s totally new aka a style you haven’t done before or something you haven’t done in a long while.

Case in point: when you always straighten your hair with a hair iron because that’s what you have at home and then you get that sudden change to go curly but don’t have a curling wand. That shouldn’t stop you from trying to curl your hair, though. There are plenty of ways to curl your hair without using a curling iron. Check them out below and try them out.

1. Sleep with braided hair - braiding your hair is one of the easiest ways to curl your hair without using any type of curling machine. Small tight braids will give you a crimped to wavy kind of look similar to what you would get with a hair waver. To get bigger and rounder waves/curls, you can do bigger braids instead.

2. The Sock Method - the sock method is a cheap and easy alternative to curling your hair if you don’t like the look you get from braiding them and leaving the braids on overnight. This method also calls for patience as it will take overnight (or at least six hours) before you can get good results. The sock method gives you bigger and better barrel curls, almost similar to what you would get with a curling wand.

3. Use a hair straightener - “but doesn’t that do the exact opposite of what a curling rod does?” Yes, but you can manipulate it to get flat iron curls which are surprisingly identical to regular curling wand curls. Check out this tutorial to see how it’s done.

4. Pin curling - can’t get the hang of straightener curls? Perhaps pin curling would be a bit easier for you to begin with. With this method, using a flat iron is totally optional, though the difference in results are definitely visible. Here’s a video tutorial to show you how it’s done.

5. Try velcro rollers - if you’ve never tried using velcro rollers before, now’s the time to get into it. These nifty little things are perfect for those looking for a heatless way to get curly hair. If you’re used to hot curlers, these would be amazingly familiar and easy to use for you.

Just because you don’t own a curling wand doesn’t mean you can’t have curly hair. If you’re looking for a faster and more convenient way to get the job done, though, you can always buy one from hairsense.ca
